Each year, before the end of October, the olives are picked by hand as they have been for centuries. They are immediately taken to the oil mill where the oil is extracted following strict food hygiene regulations.
The process of extraction is carefully and lovingly monitored and the final product is our excellent
"HORTUS" organic extra virgin olive oil.
To guarantee the quality of the oil the association TRE E, of which Spineto Estate is co-founder, has created a series of data to enable the consumer to trace the origins of the product .
Our aim is to produce olive oil of the highest quality following the guidelines resulting from years of study and the practical knowledge and advice handed down by generations of local producers. Since 1994,
"Spineto incontri e studi" organizes a yearly meeting between a group of experts and lecturers entitled
"Il tempo dell’olio". The discussions are open to all those interested.

Olive grove children’s workshop
As part of our nutritional education project, to enable young children to learn more about the production of olive oil we set aside an area and planted approximately 350 olive trees. The project is entitled
"olio per la nostra salute , olivi per il nostro paesaggio" (olive oil for our wellbeing, olive trees for our countryside). Children from local schools and their parents helped to plant the trees and have since taken part in workshops to teach the various stages of olive cultivation.
The olive grove was co funded by the EEC venture Leader Plus as part of a project entitled "I doni della terra, i giorni dell’uomo" (The gifts of the earth, generations of mankind)
