Since 2004, Tenuta di Spineto S.a.s., is a member of the Consortium for the protection of the Cinta Senese. Over 12 hectares of land including oak woods, fruit trees and scrub, have been fenced in to create a
"controlled wilderness" to provide the ideal conditions and food for this ancient breed which, until a few years ago was at risk of extinction.
The streams running through the woods provide natural drinking water and relief from the summer heat.
